Le Bistrot

15 Feb

Le Bistrot is a contemporary French restaurant that is definitely worth checking out. Happened to came across the good reviews of the restaurant and decided to bring my girlfriend here on Valentine’s Day.

Ambience of the place is good, with a tinge of a vintage feel where we can see postcards from customers, paintings, drawings and even teddy bears hanging on the wall.

The owner is thoughtful enough to have a small cosy corner as the waiting area. Guys and girls can have a chit chat and have a rest while waiting for their turn to be served.

Here comes the menu. One is given the choice of an appetizer + main course for $50 or dessert + main course for $50, if not the appetizer + dessert + main course for $60. Considering the settings and french cuisine, the price tag is reasonable. I have chosen the onion soup and duck confit for main course.

The onion soup came with emmenthal cheese on top. Girl friend commented that it was abit salty but overall it was a good experience.

The duck confit here came with two duck legs and mashed potatoes! Usually, the duck confit served elsewhere comes with a duck leg but the duck confit here has an extra serving of duck leg. The duck meat was tasty, crispy on the outside while the meat was tender and juicy. Thumbs up! Not withstanding how tasty it is, this is totally value for money!

Girlfriend chose the salmon fillet with squid ink for main course. Yummylicious! The salmon was fresh and the squid ink added an interesting taste to the fillet.

The finale was the chocolate crepe with vanilla ice cream. The chocolate crepe was crispy but the chocolate was abit too rich. However, the ice cream gave a refreshing touch to the dessert. I love the ice cream!

Nonetheless, the service here is good and prompt. Staffs were friendly and accommodating.

OMG! We were so full đŸ˜› The servings are large and we came out putting on more calories. Laugh but we really enjoyed our dinner here.

Conclusion: Value for money! Good food, good service and good ambience. What else can I say? One cannot ask for more. Recommended to make a reservation to avoid disappointment.

Verdict: 9/10
