Shin Minori

11 Mar

Shin Minori is a Japanese restaurant that serves ala carte Japanese buffet. Japanese food is now a never dying delicacy in Singapore, at least for now and at least for me. I have always adored Japanese food, simply can’t stop loving it! Having said that, to find cheap and good Japanese food is a challenge.

We ordered the Sashimi Moriwase, which is the assorted raw seafood which came with slices of salmon, tuna, yellowtail, swordfish and octopus. This tasted just nice, sweet and fresh. With the accompany of the wasabi and soy sauce, it is executed perfectly.

We had the Shake Kawa Maki (Deep Fried Salmon Skin), the 1 on the left,Norwegian Shake (Chizu Maki Salmon with Cream Cheese), the 1 on the centre, and Ebi Tempura Prawn Chizu Maki(Deep Fried Tempura Prawn with Cream Cheese), the 1 on the right. All 3 were chef’s recommendations and tasted good, especially the ones with cream cheese. The cream cheese added an interesting flavor to the sushi rolls. Thumbs up!

We had the deep-fried items which include Tori Karaage (Marinated Chicken Pieces), Tori Wasabi Mayo (Chicken pieces with Wasabi Mayonnaise), Ebi Tempura (Prawn Tempura) and Ebi Batafurai (Breaded Butterfly Prawn). They tasted mediocre, which one would not ask for more after ordering once.

The grilled items were pretty good though, tasted delicious and well-liked by us. I would highly recommend the Tsukune (Chicken Meatballs). They tasted sweet and the meat were flavorful. The only bad thing about the grilled items, was that you got to spend some time waiting for the them to come. Which may not a be bad thing after all? It depends on how you see it. For me, it has given me some time to rest and take a breather before I continue to indulge in the food again. May not be a good thing for the hungry people… Lol.

All in all, we enjoyed the food at Shin Minori. Totally value for money! Shin Minori should be commended for its affordable pricing, which allows customers to order from its extensive list of 146 food items at the price of S$31++ for lunch and S$35++ for dinner.

However, I noticed that desserts were lacking from the menu. It could be better if they could include desserts in the menu, such as ice cream and some ice cool stuff to wrap the finale of the meal.

Verdict: 8/10
