Strangers’ Reunion

1 May

I have always enjoyed going new places, trying new restaurants, cafes, food and coffee…. I’m really thrilled that there are more cafes coming into the scene. Coffee! ahhhhhh~~~~~, yes my favourite and cannot live without it. What brought us to the Strangers’ Reunion was the 2 time National Barista Championship title. The owner was a 2 time National Barista Champion.

Strangers’ Reunion is a fairly new cafe along Kampung Bahru Road. The nearest MRT is Outram MRT. What’s your idea of a new cafe? For me, I will be expecting new furnishings, fairly new furnitures but this is not the case this time round. The place looks pretty vintage, which protrays some age in years. The furnitures looked pretty old and rugged too. I guess that is how the owner had wanted to protray to his customers. Nothing pretentious and just wanna keep things simple.

Enough about the place. Let’s start the ball rolling and start gabbing about their coffees and food. We ordered the Magic and Cafe Latte, both came with impressive coffee art. Nothing less from the Barista Champion. Thumbs up! The Latte came with an art of a heart shape while the Magic was that of a leaf shape. Simply gorgeous… The Latte was quite balanced, not bitter nor flat.

The Magic, on the other hand was stronger, which came with 2 ristretto espresso shots. I had gathered comments that the Magic tasted a tad sourish. Not too good ah? Perhaps it’s the beans, or the people, or the temperature… There’s just too many factors affecting that cup of coffee. Lets just blame it on mother nature. Maybe it is the way how it’s gonna be. We are just not used to it.

The finale was a Chocolate Whisky cake. Brilliant… That perfect slice of cake that accompanied the coffees. The first bite of the cake, besides the chocolatey taste, there’s still the whisky taste. The choco balls on the cake, had also added some additional bites to the cake. This cake was a perfect combination, not too sweet and the whisky taste added some nice alcohol taste to the cake. Though, we felt that there could be more whisky added to it.

From my seat, I could see some nice red velvet cupcakes, which seems delicious… I should really try them next time. Drool~~~

Conclusion: The cafe being longitudinal in shape, was quite narrow… While I was sitting beside the counter, I felt overwhelmed by the overwhelming number of counter staff. An awesome 8 staff in a narrow tiny space. Aside from the staff, one can see a steady flow of people coming into the already tiny space. This is a sign of gaining popularity and definitely a sign to expand that tiny space of theirs. Jokes aside, I believed the cafe do have its plus points. The cafe was fairly simple, with a simple menu and some light pastries and desserts. One looking to gobble yourself with main courses, would not be able to find it here.  To round that up, do drop by for a fine cup of coffee, get yourself some nice bites of cake and away from the city.

Verdict: 7/10

These solutions likewise acted to provide a easy way to realize that most people have a similar desire really like my personal own to figure out many more around this issue.
